A gift of former Senator James Schaben, this park is
nestled in the hills. It gives a sense of real seclusion, but boasts
updated facilities. Schaben Park is located 2 miles off
Highway 30, between Woodbine and Dunlap. This little know
treasure features a modern campground with electrical hookups, a
shower house, picnic shelter, playground, boat ramp to access a
fishing lake, and woodland and prairie nature trails.
Public hunting is allowed in most of
this area except in the developed area of the campground. While
predominately woodland habitat, upland grassland habitat is also available with
hunting for pheasant, quail, turkey, and deer. Trails are available for
access to hunting areas.
Shelter
Reservations are available for the large
picnic shelter. Please call (712) 647-2785 to make a
reservation. When not reserved, the shelter is on a first come,
first available basis.
